That innocent-looking white sill is neither ice nor rubber; it’s hard plastic and it can do damage to your skate blades just as much as walking on other bad surfaces. You might also see in the picture above that the sill is screwed into place; I promise you, you do not want to ever have one of those screw heads touching your skate blades!<\/p>\n

I don’t understand why there isn’t simply a sign next to each of the doors on to the ice saying do not step on the sill<\/q>. Instead this is one of those useful pieces of information which seems to be passed down as local knowledge instead.<\/p>\n
